Got a call about my mortgage with Woolwich. I mentioned I was fine with it since I got the mortgage through a bank manager. Then the caller asked if she’d been fined for mis-selling and suddenly ended the call. Tried ringing them back, but they just kept cutting me off.

My stepdad got a phone call from these lot claiming he was listed as an emergency contact for my mortgage - which is odd since I don’t have one at all. When I rang them back to figure out what was going on, there was no ringing tone, just immediate hold music with an American-accented voice popping up every now and then telling me to stay on the line as my call was super important. After about five minutes on hold, it ended with a ‘goodbye’ message and the call dropped. This kept happening again and again. The strange thing is, I’ve never applied for any mortgage, and I don’t even have my stepdad’s number stored in my phone anywhere!

Last night I got a call from these lot, asking what the call was about I was told I’d been mis-sold my mortgage and might be able to claim back thousands. When I queried who regulated them, they mentioned the Ministry of Justice. I told them I work in finance and they had no business telling me I was mis-sold. I ended the call there. They called back shortly after, but I couldn’t pick up. I rang them back and got through, only to hear them giving the same story to an elderly Welsh lady. When I questioned why I was listening in, they just cut me off.

I got quite a few calls today from this company called CCS Advice. When I picked up, I mentioned that I’m on the TPS and asked under the Freedom of Information Act where they got my contact info. They passed me on to a floor manager who said it came from some null database but refused to say where exactly. I asked for their address too but he wouldn’t give it. I said I could pop round since I was working in Bristol to sort it out in person. That’s when he started threatening me, saying his Managing Director was a tough bloke who’d deal with me. When I asked if that was a physical threat, he just hung up on me...
