I received a rather suspicious call the other day. The chap on the line was keen to discuss my life insurance policy and insisted he worked for the provider I’d chosen. Thankfully, I didn’t actually have a policy in place at that moment. However, it was a bit of an eye-opener for me; it has certainly prompted me to look into securing a plan, despite it just being another clever scam.

They called up chatin about tax credits and kept asking for the MD by their first name, like they were proper mates or something.

Had a call from someone claiming they were verifying my life insurance details with a company called Sure, just checking everything was current and correct. When I asked for the company name again, the caller was polite but got a bit quiet when I said I wasn’t certain I had a policy with them. Then, out of nowhere, the call got disconnected. It really felt dodgy to me. The voice sounded like it came from a call centre and they mentioned something about recording the call for compliance or trading reasons. Haven’t heard from them since though. I’d be cautious if you get a similar call.
