I received a telephone call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to represent BT Openreach. This has been the third or fourth similar call I've gotten recently; they insist my IP address has been compromised and that my bank details might be at risk. The caller ominously warned that I could lose my internet connection in the next 24 hours unless I press a series of buttons for further instructions. I have BT's telephone preference service activated on my landline, which they are using to reach me. I’ve now blocked this number along with three others from the same scam, and I've also reported the incident to BT to raise awareness of this fraudulent activity.
