Some bloke with a South Wales accent rang me claiming to be from "Consumer Energy". He said they could send an engineer to check our heating boiler since we don’t have mains gas in our part of the town. He asked a few questions about our current boiler and hinted we might get a new one for free. I didn’t give him any personal info, luckily, but agreed to have someone come round. The engineer never showed and when I tried calling back the number, it was dead. Should I be worried about this?

Really impolite, I told them about TPS and they just ignored it and called me again.

I get loads of calls from this number, sometimes up to five times a day, and they also change the last digit to try and get through. They always tell you to press nine if you want to opt out, but it makes no difference - the calls just keep coming. I reckon pressing nine just lets them know the number is live, so they keep at it even more.

I got a call about gas heating, I said I’m on the TPS and he goes it’s not a sale, it’s some kind of government grant or something. I told him to sod off, but they kept ringing every few minutes. Eventually I picked up and told them I’m not someone to mess with.

Got a call from them earlier this week, then they rang me again two days later. Wouldn’t let me say a thing, so I just hung up on her. Next time that sing-song Welsh woman calls, she’s gonna get all the colourful language I keep just for dodgy scam and pest calls like this.

This number is just one of about 30 I've had to block this month. It's always the same sort of query, either "Are you on benefits?" or "Do you require a new boiler?" They switch the number they call from all the time. I've now blocked the old ones but they keep coming back. Yeah, I’m on the TPS list and have reported them to Trading Standards, Citizens Advice, and the ICO. (Information Commissioner’s Office) Oddly enough, they haven't called me over the weekend so far.

Got a call from this number, some lady saying she was offering government grants. She was really rude and just cut me off when I asked which organisation she was talking for.

Got a call saying it was about some government funding and asking if our home has oil, gas, or LPG heating. I told them we actually don’t have any heating system, just a woodburner. Without a word, she just hung up on me, no goodbye or anything. Really rude.

I got a call from some bloke saying his name was Josh and that he worked for a Welsh government energy saving program called ECO3. Sounded pretty legit at first, but after reading everyone's comments here, I'm not so sure now. He told me it was like the NEST warm home scheme, which I know is real, but said there’d be no annoying paperwork involved. Honestly, I’m thinking I’ll just give any more calls from him a miss!

I was told this was the consumer energy supplier, sounded really convincing since they knew we have a disabled person at home who qualifies for a boiler upgrade. Near the end I asked if they were connected to the government’s consumer agency, but the answer was very dodgy. So I looked them up and ended up cancelling my appointment. The person on the phone didn’t seem pleased, but when I caught them out I stood my ground. Just a heads up, the caller seems legit at first so please be careful.

Some bloke rang saying he was with the government consumer service. Lucky for me, I was busy and couldn’t chat, and he mentioned he’d ring again.
