Today I got a call from a bloke using this number, saying he was with some place called United Tax Credits and that I had a tax refund waiting. Just so you know, HMRC always sends letters through Royal Mail if they need to contact you - they don’t ring up out of the blue like this, and they never send emails either. This has got Scam written all over it. If you see this number pop up, best to just ignore it or put the phone down straight away. Never share your personal info or bank details with these sorts.

I actually find those "you've been in an accident" calls quite funny. I like to play along and tell them my accident was just a silly paper cut from work last week that needed a big plaster. They get all hyped up when they hear about the accident but quickly get annoyed when they realise I’m having a laugh. Most times they just hang up and don’t bother ringing again :-)
