When I get a call out of the blue, most times they hang up before the automated message even starts. If it does ring through to the message, I listen for a bit to check if it’s someone I actually want to speak with, then I cut in. If not, I just end the call straight away. Seems like that’s done the trick, as I haven’t had any annoying cold or scam calls lately.

I got a call from some magazine or whatever, but it was all automated. I had no clue what it was about, and the way the message came across felt kinda scary, so I figured it must be spam!

Pure spam! As soon as I answered and said hello, I could tell it was one of those call centre calls by the noises in the background. Definitely blocking that number.

I got a call on my landline and it was obvious right away that it was one of those scams. Didn't bother waiting for the voicemail to end. Like others here have said, my home phone isn't connected to any of my accounts anyway, so even if the message sounded legit, I wouldn't have stayed on the line!
