They say they’re from a loan company - I didn’t want to give my name and then the guy said it was something to do with the police, sounded like a scare tactic. I called the number again and chatted with someone else there, who told me no one should be mentioning the police at all. Definitely feels like a dodgy scam.

Got a call earlier from someone claiming to be from Aviva, checking on my so-called worthless life policy. My policy ain't worthless at all, and when I pressed for details, he quickly said he'd call back later. He didn’t have any of the info Aviva would normally have. Definitely a scam. If he was a legit broker trying to drum up business (he spoke quite nicely, had a Welsh accent), still the call breached TPS guidelines. I'll look into it more and make sure to report him. Funny thing is, he left his number where I could trace it.

Got a call from a guy asking about some life insurance policy that I definitely don’t own. As soon as I started firing back some questions at him, he just cut the call off straight away.

Got a call from someone claiming they wanted to check my payments, seemed like they already knew my name. Then they started asking for my address so I gave them a totally wrong one along with a misspelt version of my name. They acted like it matched what they had on file. When I told them it was a review, I mentioned I’ve only had this phone number for a few months at this place and warned them not to try any dodgy tricks. They called back later saying they were legit, but couldn’t say which insurance company I supposedly had a policy with. They tried to say they could save me money but I knew it was all rubbish with the fake name and address. Just kept hanging up on them and have reported it to BT.

Got a call from someone saying they were from Aviva or Legal and General, they already had our names and address and claimed they were updating our life insurance details. I kinda slipped up and gave them a bit of info, then they told me policy details would come through the post before hanging up. They said this check-in was supposed to happen every three years. I don’t think they can do much with what I told them, maybe just try to push some new life insurance through a third party? Didn’t give them any bank info though. They asked if I wanted to up my life cover, but when they saw I wasn’t interested, they ended the call quite nicely. Usually with scams, they just hang up straight away. I’ll be contacting my insurer to let them know and I’d tell anyone else getting this sort of call to ask for paperwork in writing. Caught me by surprise at first.
