THE AMAZON/APPLE FAKE ORDER PHONE SCAM There was this call I got where the person pretended to be from Amazon’s customer service. They told me someone had just bought a pricey gadget, like an iPhone 12 costing over £1200, using my account. Since I hadn’t made any big purchases like that, it was really worrying. These scammers count on you getting scared and rushed so you end up giving out personal details over the phone.

Had three calls already today, really fed up with all these nuisance calls. I'm seriously thinking about cancelling the landline because it's just constant bother. Most times we just answer and stay quiet, and usually they just hang up anyway.

On Monday, the 12th of February, I received a call from this number at around 6:47 in the morning. There was a recorded message, which simply stated, "You are the only one," before it abruptly hung up. I picked up the call assuming it was a family member reaching out. Quite odd, really!

This number rang my elderly grandmother claiming to be from Virgin, stating that she could get a device to manage pest calls. They really pressured her for her card information. Thankfully, she reached out to me, and we managed to cancel her cards. However, they called back and started throwing insults at her. Utterly disgraceful behaviour!

Some bloke called my mum pretending to be after my dad. When she told him my dad’s died, he said he did it himself. My mum’s quite sharp and in her 60s, so she wasn’t having any of it. Then this “Richard” tried to offer something disgusting, and she just said “nah, cheers”. After that, he said his mate ‘William’ might be interested in killing her, which made her hang up straight away. What a proper wanker! Get a real job, you tosser!!

So my mum and dad got a call from this number earlier today. Some bloke called Bernard claimed he was from some phone sales company or something. I told him nicely to take us off their list. Then he goes, "you're a f##kin idiot, you know that? You tw@t, you f##king idiot." I just found it hilarious and he got annoyed and hung up. Seriously, how mad is that? Haha!

Received a missed call at 8:20 on Saturday morning. Tried to ring back, but no luck. Searched the number on Google but couldn't find any information on it. Seems like it might be one of those scam calls. It’s high time the authorities take action against these nuisances and bring them to justice!

After they get your bank info, they’ll claim your broadband or WiFi is being hacked right now and if you hand over £320, they’ll fix it. If you’re bored, just humour them, but if not, tell them your house is burning down.

+They’ve rung me loads of times, always claiming they’re from BT Internet (I’m not even a BT customer). Who are these idiots? Surely nobody’s that gullible to fall for such an obvious scam. If this is all they’ve got to do with their sad lives, I actually feel quite sorry for them. Also, why is it that you can’t ever call them back? The automated message always says "this number can’t be recognised."

Got a call from an Asian bloke claiming to be from BT on 8/1/18, trying to fool me saying my internet was being hacked. I told him I had to feed the baby and I'd call BT back once I was free. He just hung up on me without saying a word. The funny part? I don’t even have a baby. I’ve had loads of calls like this, so I was just curious what he’d do. Got a call from someone saying they were from “BT tech support” - kinda creepy how they had the account holder’s name and address, but nothing else. They asked to install software on our PC (team viewer) to ‘fix our IP address’ so no one could nick our internet. The whole explanation was a bit dodgy and technical sounding. Definitely don’t hand over any info or let these folks on your computer!

They basically wanted me to download TeamViewer so they could control my computer - I told them I don’t even own a PC, just an iPad. Received a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from BT, claiming my BT internet had been hacked and others were using it, and she offered to fix it. She knew my name, which made me suspicious straight away. I asked her to give me my BT internet account number. She confidently said, "Yes Sir, I can give you your account number now." However, the number she gave was completely wrong. I told her she was a scammer pretending to be from BT and ended the call immediately.

A woman with a kind of transatlantic accent called, claiming to be offering an alternative service to The Telephone Preference Service that would block international calls too. I told her straight away it was a scam. Oddly enough, on another scam call, the caller actually asked me why I thought it was a scam!! Seems like someone’s told them about The Telephone Preference Service now, and they’re trying a different approach. BE CAREFUL when sharing info - you might be helping the scammers! The number that called me was 01791 647812.

Over the course of the last week, I've received a couple of phone calls from this number. Initially, it was a woman on the line, followed by a man who both claimed to be from BT's technical support. They alleged that our internet service was compromised and that hackers had infiltrated our connection. The first caller went on about checking the light indicator on our hub, insisting it was causing issues with our online banking security. When I informed her that I don’t use internet banking, she promptly hung up. The second caller didn’t fare much better, as I terminated the call the moment I heard “BT Technical department.” What a nuisance these people are!

I just had a rather concerning phone call from this number. The caller claimed to be from BT, insisting that there was an urgent issue with our internet service, which they alleged had been compromised. They even provided a BT ID number to lend credibility to their story, warning that hackers from abroad might be attempting to breach our security. They urged me to press specific keys on my keypad. This is undoubtedly a scam, as we are not even BT customers! If you happen to be a BT subscriber and receive a similar call, I strongly recommend hanging up and contacting BT directly to confirm whether there are any genuine issues with your service. Better to be safe than sorry!

This call was definitely a scam, so don’t get caught out. An Indian guy kept ringing me and there was loads of noise behind him like he was trying to make it sound like a call centre or sumthin. He was saying there was a problem with my internet and wanted me to connect through my browser. Lucky for me, he didn’t pull it off. I told him to **** off and hung up sharpish. Got a call from this number at about 8 in the morning on 12th Dec. The bloke sounded like he had an Indian accent and said he was from BT, telling me my broadband router was hacked. He said I had to switch on the device connected to the internet. When I asked him to prove who he was and how I could be sure he was actually from BT, he said he had a licence number that only BT and I would know. I asked again what it was, but he just said I needed to be in front of my computer. So I just ended the call there. Seemed really sketchy to me.

This number rang me too. The voice sounded Asian and they were obviously reading off a script. They said they were from BT tech support and claimed our internet had suspicious activity, like someone trying to hack into our network. They offered to help sort the issue and secure our connection. I told the guy to wait while I got my phone ready to record the call, but he just hung up. I reckon if I'd let it go on, they would've asked to access our network and then tried to rip me off!
