Every time I pick up the call, it’s just dead air-nobody seems to be there at the other end!

got a call on the landline from someone trying to trick me into some dodgy laptop scam. i acted like i was following his instructions, pressing the keys he wanted me to. after about 10 mins he asked what was showing on my screen. i told him to explain it all over again and then made weird sounds from the microwave nearby, saying it was telling me to defrost. then i just ended the call!

I got a call from a bloke with a strong Indian accent claiming to be from Micro Tech, said he was with Microsoft. He told me my PC had connected to their server and was downloading odd files that could damage it if left unchecked. Problem was, he couldn’t say what computers I had or their serial numbers, nor guess how many we had, which was a bit rubbish seeing as they phoned a business, not a home. I ended up stringing him along for a bit to waste his time before telling him our gear was perfectly fine and we weren’t interested in whatever he was selling!

Received a call from some chap of Asian descent earlier today. I recognised it as a scam the moment I picked up, given my background as a private investigator. It was quite amusing to toy with him! He seemed utterly clueless about even the fundamentals of computer systems.

I just had a rather peculiar phone call from this number, claiming there were issues with my computer. I thought I’d play along for a bit and replied affirmatively, saying, "Oh yes, I am indeed having trouble with my computer..." The caller then insisted I press the "Windows key" alongside "R". I feigned confusion and told him it wasn’t responding. Curiosity got the better of me, so I asked him for his name, and then informed him he’d dialled the wrong person, as I’m in law enforcement. At that point, he abruptly ended the call... I attempted to ring the number back, only to be met with a “number not recognised” response. Quite the odd experience, I must say!

This morning, on the 4th of February 2016, I received a rather unexpected phone call. An Asian bloke claimed to be working for Windows. I promptly informed him that he was utterly mistaken and emphatically asserted that "No, he certainly does not!" He seemed quite taken aback, let out an expletive, and subsequently ended the call in a rather hasty manner.

I received two phone calls back on the 23rd of January, 2016, with another one following shortly after. An Asian gentleman on the line claimed he was representing Microsoft and said there was an issue that required me to log in to my computer. I was just about to head out, so I politely declined. I later reported this to Microsoft, considering it a scam. A local computer whizz I've come to trust also confirmed that it was indeed a dodgy call.

Scam alert - they rang me yesterday (21 Jan) and yet again this morning. I didn’t pick up - no message was left - I never call these numbers back. A few months ago, I fell for an email that claimed my computer was at risk of being hacked and told me to ring a certain number, which I foolishly did. The person on the line had an Asian accent, claiming to be from Windows tech support. As soon as he said it would cost £600 (!), I hung up straight away. Now, I ignore any similar calls or emails - but I guess they might still have my number saved. Definitely a risky scam to watch out for.

I just got a call from this number - a man with an Indian accent, calling me Ma’am and telling me my computer had been hacked. He said he needed me to do stuff to fix it. Pretty clear it was a scam! When I told him I didn’t even own a computer, he hung up. Then I tried ringing back and got a BT message saying: "The number you have dialled is not recognised. Please check the number and try again."

Pretty clear it's a call centre. I picked up and then they just went quiet and hung up. Good thing I spoke Welsh when I answered!

I've had a bunch of calls from someone saying they're with Microsoft in America, but they were so rude. When I questioned them, they actually started shouting, calling me a silly kid and telling me to behave. We ended up putting the call on speaker at work and honestly, it was kind of funny to listen to. Does anyone have an idea what they're after?

I didn’t pick up cause I didn’t know the number, so it went to voicemail. No message was left tho. I looked it up online and found this site. I’ve got a call blocker on my phone, so I’ve put this number on there now. Cheers for the info!

A woman with an Asian accent phoned me just like all the others. I told her our computers are fine and asked her not to ring back. After that, she got quite rude and kept saying she’d be calling every day.

I've had a similar encounter myself. This chap was incredibly persuasive, so do exercise caution...

I chat with them in German, which really throws them off since they can’t understand a word. Eventually, they just give up. Another thing I like to do is pretend I’m hard of hearing and loudly announce that I’ve won a computer, asking when it’ll arrive all excited. The poor bloke on the other end tries to explain he’s a scammer pretending to be from Microsoft! Then I suddenly say I’m one of their tech advisors and the call cuts off. It’s all a con, so don’t trust these calls near your PC.

So, this guy Sam, who insists he’s not from near here, has been checking in on my computer for several weeks now. He called me just the other day as part of a regular check-up. Honestly, I thought it was pretty nice of him not to assume it was some kind of scam.

Got calls from the same number 3 times today, the bloke said there was a problem with my computer and claimed to be from Windows tech support. When I asked questions, he passed me to his "supervisor" who was really rude and got annoyed when I didn't follow his instructions. He kept warning me Microsoft would shut everything down. Said he was calling from the USA and even mentioned they had an office at 21 Station Cambridge, but couldn't give me any contact number. Felt dodgy to me.

Received a dodgy call purporting to be from Microsoft, and the chap had a distinct Indian accent. He tried to guide me through checking a 30-something character CLSID. Unsurprisingly, it was identical to what you'd find on every Windows machine. I decided to keep him talking for a bit, but eventually, I just hung up. Quite the amusing encounter!

Got a call from someone with an African accent. When I asked them to remove me from their list, they said they'd just keep ringing me anyway. Proper annoying.

They keep ringing me non stop, proper annoying. Now I just let them chat away for a laugh. They claim there’s something wrong with my laptop and that they’ve seen error messages. Totally just a trick to try and get you to let them into your computer.

Got called twice this week by someone claiming my computer had an issue that needed fixing. They wanted me to log in so they could supposedly sort it out. When I asked what the problem was, they said it was something with Microsoft Windows. Bit funny really, since I only use a Mac and no Microsoft stuff at all. The first time I told them I don’t use Windows, they just hung up. The second time I said I don't even have a computer and they did the same. Guess there’ll be more calls like this so I’m just gonna block the number now.

I got a call from this number, a bloke with a foreign accent claiming to be from the Windows Tech Support team. I’d been caught out by a scam like this before, but from another number last year, so I knew straight away it was a con. When I told him I wasn’t falling for it, he got really rude and started calling me names. He kept telling me to "f--- off" a few times and then just hung up. Honestly, if you get a call like this, don’t listen to a word they say - just hang up.

I just received a call that was clearly a scam, pretending to be from Windows support. They hung up without saying much.

He said his name was Derrick, spoke with a really bad English accent and kept insisting he was from Windows tech support. I kept telling him my windows were perfectly fine, had them sorted by a vision tech just yesterday. He started getting a bit narked but I carried on saying they'd be fine for another two weeks so he should call back then. Eventually I got fed up with the whole thing and ended the call.

A bloke with a strange accent rang me, saying he was from Windows Support and wanted to speak to the primary user of the computer. When I asked him where he was calling from and what exactly he was after, he just ended the call.

I've had this number attempt to ring me on a couple of occasions. Not recognising it, I chose to allow it to go to voicemail, but strangely, no message was ever left behind. It feels like it could well be a scam or perhaps something to do with PPI.

Received a rather dodgy phone call earlier, claiming I had severe issues with my computer and that it was supposedly uploading problematic files onto their servers. I wasn't swayed for even a moment, but I can only imagine there are others who might fall for this nonsense. We really ought to take action against these unscrupulous individuals!

Got a call from an Indian woman who was telling me to press the Windows key and Control at the same time on my PC. I said no and asked if this was some sort of scam. Then she passed me on to a "supervisor" who got really nasty and started being rude when I questioned him about it being a scam. Best to just avoid this number altogether.

Dodgy Microsoft Technical Support alert! Total con job, if you ask me. Microsoft doesn’t just ring you unexpectedly about computer issues. It's best to hang up immediately and flag the number to Action Fraud, if it’s visible. Stay sharp!
