01789000000 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01789000000 👆 is reported as a persistent nuisance scam originating outside the UK, often using a Stratford-upon-Avon number to mask its true source. Callers typically promote fake holiday prizes or free cruises with automated messages, frequently featuring an American or Canadian accent. Pressing '9' as instructed does not incur charges but connects recipients to remote call centres, potentially causing frustration. Despite many being registered with the Telephone Preference Service, complaints persist due to calls coming from overseas, making enforcement difficult. Calls may occur at inconvenient times, including early mornings or evenings, disrupting recipients. Many users advise ignoring or not answering these calls to avoid engagement and potential distress. Authorities currently have limited action against such overseas-based operations.

Called at twenty past seven in the evening and completely disturbed my peace. Much appreciated!

Ever since the OME, haven't these folks been using Stratford-upon-Avon as their go-to?

Hitting '9' during the call won’t cost you a penny, it's just a load of nonsense. The truth is, when you press '9', you're merely inviting a clueless operator sitting miles away in another country to deal with your query - all at their expense, mind you! Just have a chat with them about their attire from earlier today and enjoy the banter! 😉

I received a call from this number just shy of 11 o'clock this morning. The voice on the other end chirped excitedly, “Congratulations! You’ve won a Caribbean holiday. Please press nine to claim your prize (note that it incurs a premium charge)." The woman sounded distinctly Canadian! It’s quite frustrating as they ring me at least once a month with this same old ruse, and being on the Telephone Preference Service list doesn’t seem to put an end to their incessant calls.

Received a call from this number at our home (NQR, TPS, and withheld numbers blocked) around 7:09 this afternoon, right on the first day of half-term break. It woke me, my little lad, and my expectant wife! An automated American voice started off by claiming I’d won a trip to the Caribbean and asked me to press 9. Naturally, we hung up. We have zero interest in a so-called free holiday-just desperate for our peaceful night's sleep again. We'd love to see these nuisances penalised and put out of business!

I receive calls a few times a month, often about complimentary cruises and whatnot. It’s all rather tiresome, to be honest! Ugh!

An American lady has mentioned that we've clinched a reward. I've signed up with the preference service too. This is the third time my phone's rung today about it!

I narrowly avoided answering this call, thank goodness! We've been registered with the Telephone Preference Service for yonks, and I make it a point to re-register regularly.

I received a call from this number as well! I promptly called 1471 to find out who it was, jotted the details down, and did a bit of digging. It seems to be one of those annoying cold callers, and I refuse to waste our hard-earned cash trying to return the call. It's clearly just a way for them to make a quick buck. Cheers, Sal!

So, why on earth are they using a number from Stratford-upon-Avon?

I pressed the number nine as instructed by a rather pleasant American lady. Instead of the customary two rings that I've grown accustomed to here in the UK, I heard just one solitary ring. My mind instantly jumped to the thought, "Uh-oh, international calling fees!" and I quickly hung up. Oops! As it happens, we’re usually tied up at work throughout the day.

I recently received one of those pre-recorded phone calls. The only thing I caught was the word 'Congratulations,' and that was enough for me to hang up.

I keep receiving calls from these pesky individuals on a frequent basis. I’ve enrolled with the Telephone Preference Service and even had a chat with the Information Commissioner's Office. Unfortunately, they've informed me that there's little they can do, as these callers are operating from outside the UK. It's rather frustrating, to say the least!

Received a call from this number just moments ago. The digits on my phone caught my eye, and I immediately thought it must be a scam given all those zeros. I let our answering machine handle it, but all I got was silence. I’ll definitely be advising the kids not to answer any calls from this number, and certainly not to press 9!
