Today, I received a phone call from this number. Since the area code matched mine, I thought it could be something significant, so I picked up. To my surprise, the line was completely silent. I called out a few times with 'hello' but all I got was silence, so eventually, I decided to hang up.

They called sayin I had PPI, but I was like only 10 years old then, so that cant be right.

My elderly mother, who's 80, received a phone call from someone claiming to be from British Telecom regarding a refund she's been expecting (from BT, of course). They began probing her about whether she had any loans or a mortgage. When she replied negatively, they abruptly hung up! I can't help but wonder how they got hold of her number - could it have come through BT?
