I’d rung NHS 111 and was expecting a callback. Out of the blue, a number from Stafford rang me back, claiming it was about my son seeing a doctor. Thing is, that’s over 100 miles away from my city! When I mentioned the nearest out-of-hours centre, the person just said sorry, then I heard some women chuckling before the call cut off. Weirdly, a couple of minutes later, my actual local out-of-hours number called me. Proper odd experience.

Got a call from this number at 2.15am today. The bloke said he was a doctor calling to follow up and make sure everything was alright after the paramedics came. Would be really annoyed if this is some kind of scam, as I’m responsible for elderly parents who are at risk of falls and might need urgent help. Drove 60 miles early morning only to find them sound asleep, no idea about any emergency!

Got a call at 3 in the morning on my landline! The woman asked if this was the xxxx xxxx dementia care home. I said no, but my missus does stay there - is there something wrong? She wouldn't share any details, saying it was confidential. Seemed pretty strange. Loads of people have my mobile, yet only my doctor knows this number. Out of tons of care homes nearby, why pick the one connected to me? And for what reason? Just to ruin my night’s sleep, it seems!

I get calls from this number whenever I ring my GP's surgery in Carmarthen outside their usual hours (I think these services cover big areas, maybe even nationwide). I experienced something really similar, I called back and all I got was silence or some sort of music playing? On that same day, I’d just had a blood test done since one of my results was a bit off, and I’m meant to chat with my GP about it tomorrow. What puzzles me most is how they got my phone number - the forms for blood tests usually only ask for your name and DOB, right? It all seems a bit strange to me.

This morning, I got a bunch of calls from this number starting at 5 am and then every ten minutes until about 5:40. The first couple of times I was woken up but missed the chance to answer. Using 1471 didn't show anything the first time, then strange music played on the next calls. When I tried calling back, there was nothing but silence, no ringing at all. On the fourth call I picked up but stayed quiet until a polite lady asked for Karen Leeder - that’s not me. When I asked who she was and why she was ringing, she said it was from the out of hours doctor’s surgery and that my number popped up on her screen. I told her to stop calling and she did. What’s odd is this is a Staffordshire number, and I live way out in Essex. It’s a bit worrying since my ex’s contact has used calls before to bother me. Weird experience.
