I got a call from this number claiming it was about my computer. They mentioned something about Microsoft and some errors popping up on my PC. The person offered to walk me through fixing it step by step, but I asked, “How can I be sure you’re legit?” I told them it wasn’t a great time to chat and said they could ring back in thirty minutes. But after reading the comments above, I’m going to block this number for good!

I’ve just flagged this number to HMRC because it’s definitely a scam and has nothing to do with them. They’ve taken the details and said they’re going to act on it since loads of others have reported the same number. Apparently, they’ve had hundreds of complaints already. Received a rather dodgy call from someone claiming to be a Microsoft representative, insistent that my computer was infested with a virus. To put it frankly, this is a classic con! For the record, I'm rocking a MacBook Pro here, so I'm quite certain they've got no idea what they're on about when they mention any "viruses." I have a sneaking suspicion that their true aim is to peddle some shifty third-party software, enabling them to gain remote access to my device and swipe confidential information-things like my credit card details, for instance. Let's be vigilant, folks! It’s common knowledge that Microsoft doesn’t contact their customers in this manner regarding virus alerts-what a laugh!
