Every time I quizzed him about the date of the supposed incident, he could only muster that it occurred sometime last year. I pointed out that with only my name to go on, he clearly didn't know what he was talking about, and if he were genuinely representing my insurance firm, he’d possess more relevant details. He abruptly hung up after that!

The caller had a thick Asian accent which made it quite tricky to catch what he was saying. After a bit, I figured out he was talking about a car crash involving someone I know. I just had a rather dodgy phone call from someone claiming to know about an accident of mine from the past three years. The chap, who had a distinct Indian accent, mentioned he was calling from Bolton and had somehow got hold of information from my RTA report. I played along for a bit, even making up that I’d had three mishaps recently and asked him to clarify which one he meant. Despite the nonsense I was throwing at him, he kept on pursuing me. Eventually, I called him out for preying on those in vulnerable situations, as I haven't been behind the wheel in nearly eight years (which is the truth), and I decided to end the conversation. To my surprise, he rang me back immediately, so I took the liberty of blowing a whistle down the receiver. I dare say, I hope that made his ears ring! What a disgusting opportunist!
