01782444903 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01782444903 👆 is reported as a persistent scam involving callers impersonating BT Openreach or other telecom-related services, often claiming issues with internet security or broadband. Callers frequently use spoofed or fake numbers, some matching genuine BT details, to appear legitimate. They typically pressure recipients to grant remote access or make payments, sometimes attempting to extract personal banking information. Many victims describe aggressive or rude behaviour upon refusal. These calls may include silent pauses, incorrect personal details, or abrupt hang-ups. It is strongly advised not to engage, avoid returning calls, and never confirm personal information. Reporting every scam attempt to official police cybercrime channels is crucial, as this helps authorities combat and trace these largely foreign-based criminal operations. Blocking numbers alone is ineffective due to frequent number changes.

Got a call from someone in the Essex region claiming there was a problem with my internet. I quickly knew it was a scam and told them I don’t have an internet service. The person got rude and said, “Don’t lie to me.” I just hung up. They’ve been ringing loads since, but we just ignore it now.

Got calls from 01782 444903 & 07989140713 saying they were from "BT Openreach". When I asked why they were calling, the bloke went on about some security compromise which sounded like rubbish, so I hung up. He rang back almost immediately sounding quite annoyed, and I just ended the call again. Later, he tried calling from his mobile, but I just ignored it altogether.

Got a call from someone claiming to be Saif at BT internet security. I hung up straight away since BT isn't even my provider. Pretty sure it’s a scam. This was the second time I’ve received that call this week.

So, yesterday, 14th January 2023, about midday I got a call from 01782444903. Like many dodgy calls, I picked up and the line just went dead on the other end - it's such a sneaky trick to get you curious enough to ring them back. If you do ring 01782444903 back, it’s probably a premium rate line, or worse, could be a way for them to get into your wifi and then access all your personal stuff, including your online banking. It’s shocking how these scammers are still running riot and no proper action seems to be taken against them. Really should be more done to stop this kind of garbage.

They keep ringing my dad’s number, but he never picks up. The moment his voicemail picks up, the caller just hangs up straight away!

I got a phone call from a polite lady with an Indian accent, who claimed she was from British Telecom. She asked if she could confirm my last name, which she actually got right, but then she messed up my gender, calling me Mrs when I'm definitely a Mr. That was the point where I cut her off and said I didn’t want to carry on the conversation.

Received a call supposedly from BT Openreach, giving a London address on Newgate Street. It’s clear they haven't the foggiest notion about Newgate Street at all! When I mentioned that I wasn’t a BT customer, they promptly ended the conversation. Quite the shambles!

It appears you won’t be able to return this call. It just makes a beep like an occupied line if you attempt to ring back. In my view, this is certainly a bothersome caller.

We got two calls today from this number but they just dropped the line as soon as we picked up. We thought being on the telephone preference service would stop these calls to our landline.

Someone pretending to be from BT Openreach network security called me saying my internet was being attacked by malware. They gave me a computer ID that actually matched mine, so I let them onto my laptop. They installed a remote access app and tried to nab £5000 from my current account for some supposed firewall service to protect me. Thankfully, my bank blocked the transaction. When I wouldn’t give them access to my bank or PAYPAL, the person got really nasty and threatening. The whole call felt unbelievably real. Watch out for this scam!

You'd think these con artists would pick better names. Who at BT Openreach is named Derek and talks with a thick Asian accent? I mean, we've had ones calling themselves Martin, Arthur and others before, but this one really stood out.

A woman with an accent was calling and kept asking for me by name. I said no straight away as always, and then she claimed it was BT on the line. I told her she was fibbing and to leave me alone! Now I’m getting these calls every day, though the number keeps changing.

I usually don't get calls that early, especially not at 7.41am, which is why I just let it ring out. I’m not up and about at that hour and it's very rare for someone to call me then. Probably just some scammer trying their luck.

Usually I’m not up that early, so when my phone buzzed at 7:41 AM, I just ignored it. Getting calls at that time is definitely not common for me. Probably just another scam call.

This morning at around 8:45, I had an unexpected phone call from this number. The caller initially inquired whether he was speaking to me by name. I politely requested that they take me off their calling list, explaining that my disability makes it quite painful for me to get to the phone. To my shock, he rudely interrupted me with a comment telling me that I should "cut off my arms and legs and die." I found this deeply disturbing, and I quickly ended the conversation to spare myself any further disrespect. Does anyone know what company this might be?
