I got a call from someone asking for my mum and dad, but I don't really know who it was. They somehow knew my name though, which was a bit odd.

I work for CAB North Staffs. When I got the call, I just asked straight away which organisation was calling, but the bloke said he wasn’t able to say. That felt pretty dodgy, so I asked once more and he still refused. With all the dodgy calls nowadays from debt collectors, parking fine companies, energy suppliers and insurance firms, I ended the call politely. It was only after looking it up here that I realised I’d actually called CAB NS myself about 10 days ago when I really needed help. It’s a real shame it takes them over a week to get back and even then they lay on some excuse so it ends up as “no help from us”!

I just got a call from this number, and the person on the line asked if they had reached me, even using my full name. When I asked who was calling, she wouldn’t say, claiming it was confidential. Honestly, she was really rude about it! Considering I’ve been caught up in scams before, there’s no way I’m going to give any details to some stranger acting all rough like that!

My work reception got a call from this number asking specifically for me, and they passed it on to my extension. When a coworker picked up, the caller refused to say who they were or why they were calling. We told them to stop calling and to delete the number from their records. But they rang back about an hour later anyway, and when I answered, there was complete silence for 20 seconds before they hung up. After that, I blocked the number straight away.

Just to clear it up, this isn’t some dodgy or scammy call. It’s actually from the Citizens Advice Bureau, checking in to offer support with debt issues and mental health struggles. They reckon financial troubles are a big reason why people might end up in tough spots. Life’s way more valuable than money, no matter what’s on the note. So for all those claiming it’s a scam or a wrong number, it definitely isn’t. You can’t ring them back as they don’t accept inbound calls, which had me suspicious at first. I missed the call and was about to call them out for scammy behaviour, but glad I held back. They really help out with advice on benefits and possibly getting you back pay.
