01782401163 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01782401163 👆 is reported as a number frequently linked to scam calls impersonating HMRC or debt collection agencies like Advantis, often demanding personal information or payment details. Many callers use aggressive or unprofessional tactics, sometimes speaking with foreign accents, and frequently hang up when challenged. Genuine Advantis representatives do exist as authorised HMRC debt collectors, but confusion arises due to poor communication, multiple scam impersonators, and misleading voicemail messages posing as dentists or other businesses. Users are strongly advised to avoid sharing personal data, verify any alleged debts directly with HMRC, and block the number. Caution is warranted as calls may feel threatening or persistent, but official HMRC calls typically come from 0300 numbers, not this number.

There was no way they wanted to send anything by letter or email, and guess what? They couldn't even give me an email address. The person on the phone had a really strong foreign accent. After a good 5 minutes on hold, they just told me to buzz off. Well, on the bright side, at least they didn’t keep bugging other people for ages! :)

got a call from someone pressing me for personal info, kept rushing me. asked for their name but they dodged it. when they pushed for my bank details, I told them to send a letter and I'd provide info that way. they said that's not how they work, I told them that's not how I do things. the bloke got annoyed real quick, and i mentioned hmrc agents wouldn't get so snappy. then he just cut the call.

Blimey, some folks here are off their heads. It's Advantis, the lot HMRC employ to gather debts. They're fairly decent and usually let you set up payment plans. Look up HMRC if you're unsure. Either sort your dues or don't… Honestly, they can’t really force anything. They just keep chasing and try to assist. Why the fibbing though… Just pay or don't, but no need for the lies.

Honestly, you should report this lot to the FCA ASAP. They’re not legit debt collectors at all, just some scammy bunch pretending to be your dentist to get you to ring them back. If a company sends you an automatic message asking you to ring them back on another number, that's a massive red flag for a scam. You might hear some folks claim that this company is legit, but the way they operate just screams dodgy to me. It's best to avoid calling them back at all.

Advantis is a third party company collecting debts for HMRC, but they're not the real deal, just authorised agents. Don't pay them a penny. If you owe HMRC, only sort it out straight with them, never with any other company. Just ignore calls or letters from these lot.

This number actually belongs to Advantis, which is a real company - it’s not “advantage” or a dentist like some folks have got wrong in their comments. I made payments directly on the HMRC site, but now I’m getting calls from some international outfit. I’ve blocked the number, but I’m guessing they have heaps more so the calls will just keep coming (they’ll get blocked too, obviously). Honestly, it’s a bit rubbish that HMRC outsourced to a team that couldn’t even understand my British accent. Just so you know, us UK taxpayers would prefer to deal with fellow Brits when it comes to tax stuff, not some foreign call centres.

So, I got a text from Advantis claiming I owe some money to HMRC. They just sent a link to pay up but didn’t explain what exactly the debt was for or anything like that. I asked them to give me more details but haven’t heard back. Now, I’m not calling it a scam outright, but it’s annoying because companies like this make it easier for scammers to trick people, since proper debt collectors don’t bother giving any real info about the debt either. It just feels a bit dodgy to me.

Some bloke got really shouty when I wouldn’t give him any info. He claimed to be from a company called Adventist, saying he was working with HMRC. I told him I don’t do phone calls and asked him to send something in writing - he said they already had, which is why he was ringing now. Absolute rubbish, I never got anything. No idea how he even got my number, nothing to do with any business or anything. When I asked him for the address the letters were supposedly sent to, he just refused to say. So I just hung up while he was still yelling. Total SCAM and really rude as well!

Got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, but I didn’t fall for it and gave them nothing. Told them straight up I knew it was a scam and to quit ringing and messaging me or else I'd report them. The person on the line had a heavy Indian accent and spoke in very broken English. Really don’t get why BT allows this sort of thing to go on, especially when they must know their network's being used by fraudsters.

Got a call from a woman wanting to speak to me using my full name, saying she was from HMRC. She spoke in a really broken foreign accent, sounded like from somewhere in the Far East. When I told her it was a scam and HMRC never call like this, she kept saying she didn’t understand. Definitely a proper scam call.

Called at 6:30 in the evening, claiming to represent HMRC and looking to speak with the business owner. They clearly didn't seem to grasp the time difference here in the UK.

Got a call today from someone claiming to be from Advantage Ltd. They said they had my details from HMRC and that a letter would be on its way. The person sounded quite rude and just cut the call. I knew straight away it was a scam and didn’t take the bait.

I usually just let the phone ring if I don’t recognise the number, like with 01782 401163. I just don’t answer calls from numbers I don’t know.

Today, we had a cheeky scammer ring our office, attempting to pull a fast one on the boss. Lucky for us, I wasn’t born yesterday, so they got nowhere near the higher-ups. Their caller claimed to be “phoning on behalf of HMRC.” Seriously? If it were the real HMRC, they’d know how to pick up the phone or send a letter properly! What a ridiculous ploy!

The perils of the HMRC con are quite alarming. It's incredibly concerning how these fraudulent schemes are proliferating, targeting unsuspecting individuals with threats and deceit. One must remain vigilant and educated to safeguard oneself against such blatant scams.

Someone rang me, saying they were from HMRC, but it sounded dodgy from the start. They kept pushing for payment and threatening with legal action. I didn’t even give them a chance, told them to jog on. Definitely a scammer trying to scare people, so watch out!
