I keep getting calls from East Asian people, maybe Indian, both men and women, asking if they can have a minute to ask some questions. It happens a couple of times a week, the last one was about half an hour ago. Today, some bloke called “Raymond” wanted to talk to “the gentleman of the house” for just a moment or two. I told him no straight away and asked where they’d got our number from, but they just cut the call. The number showed up as 01782342818. When I tried calling back to complain, it just rang out, like no one was there. It’s clear as soon as you refuse, they drop the line. They’re trying to get you to say yes so they can twist it into some kind of recorded consent without you knowing. Proper dodgy, that.

This was definitely a scam and not really from Stoke. I’ve reported it to Action Fraud. The police need as many scam reports as possible to get a full picture of how bad this problem is, so they can decide what to tackle first. These scams actually fool people and take advantage of those who are vulnerable, or else the scammers wouldn’t keep doing it.

I rang the number but only got the voicemail. The call then went dead and stopped making noises. From what others have said, this doesn’t sound like a great sign.

I had a call from a man with an Indian accent who said his name was "Raymond." He asked to speak to the man of the house. When I asked who he was, he said he was from "UBENEFIT" and wanted to ask some quick questions. I told him I wasn’t interested and questioned how they got our number. Suddenly, the call was cut off. The number showed as 01782 342818 on Caller ID. I tried calling back to complain, but it was just a dead line. This wasn’t a one-time thing either - they had rung us three times within the same week.

Got a call from an Asian guy who asked for me by name. I told him I didn’t know who he was, and then he just ended the call. Pretty sure it’s one of those overseas call centres trying to trick folks and steal info.

She said something about Platinum, but I couldn’t catch the full thing. Then she wanted me to say yes to “2 quick questions” or something like that. The first one was about my age group.
