Got a call from a guy called Alex, sounded Asian, who said the government owed me some cash from years ago. He gave me a reference number and told me to hang on to it for a callback from his manager. I just told him to forget it and not to send his manager around.

I got a call from someone claiming to work for a firm handling PPI claims. They told me I’d paid too much on my mortgage for nearly three decades and asked me to send a cheque from my bank. They also said I needed to have ID ready when the money arrived. Definitely a con.

Got a call from someone claiming my bank was refunding some fees. They asked for my account info, but there’s no way my bank would just hand out cash like that. Total scam attempt!

This number has rang me like 14 times just today! Total scam, they keep saying we can reclaim 20 years of bank fees. I've never had any bank fees at all! Such nasty folks, really annoying.

Got a call from a bloke with an Asian accent claiming there was a bank refund for me. When I told him I wasn’t convinced and doubted he had anything, he started calling me some nasty names! Honestly, what a rude way to treat someone who might just be catching onto a scam!

Got a call from a bloke with an Indian accent claiming that big banks and building societies are giving money back for secret fees they charged. I asked him if he even knew which bank I use, but he just kept saying “all major banks and building societies.” I explained I don’t get charged as I always have money in my account, but he wouldn’t take the hint. Even after saying it sounded like a scam, he kept on going. Eventually, I just ended the call.

I got a phone call from some bloke called Bob, who told me I was owed a refund from my bank that the government would be paying out. I said that sounds brilliant and asked how much I was due. Without warning, Bob just cut the call.

I've gotten loads of calls from a lady looking for Mrs Williams, like over 20 since a couple months back. Every time I tell her there's no Mrs Williams here and ask nicely for her to remove our number from their list, but she keeps ringing anyway. It's getting a bit much now.

I answered the phone and there was this pause before anyone spoke, which made me hang up straight away because that usually means trouble!

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming I should get a cheque for overpaid money. When I questioned him, he ended up admitting he was just trying to scam me and refused to take my number off his list. The worse part is the number they’re calling from probably belongs to an actual person or company in the UK, but they’re spoofing it. BT really ought to have a way to trace and report the real number or IP behind these calls to catch the real scammers.

I got a call from a woman with an Asian accent asking for my fiancé who was out working. When I asked her who she really was, she claimed she was from the UK government saying he was owed a refund from the bank. I was a bit suspicious and asked why he’d be getting money back in the first place. Then she wanted to talk to him again but after I asked the same question once more, she just ended the call. Bit dodgy if you ask me.

Some bloke called claiming to work for a firm handling PPI claims and said they’d be sending me a cheque for cash that the banks supposedly owed me. He wanted my birth date and also which bank I'd be cashing the cheque at. The moment he asked about the bank, I just ended the call. Haven’t heard from him again since!

My missus picked up and some woman with an accent was asking for me by name. When she told her I wasn't there, the woman just went silent and then ended the call. These bloody annoying calls keep coming, probably from firms that buy UK numbers just to bother folks like us all day long and make a killing off it.
