I received a call from a woman who said she was with BT. She had quite a noticeable Indian or Pakistani accent. She insisted that my internet was under threat and claimed they needed to conduct some tests on my connection, asking me to be at my computer. I had my doubts about her legitimacy, sensing that she might be up to no good. When I confronted her with my suspicions, she continued to push for my engagement until I finally hung up and reached out to BT directly, who assured me it was a scam. If you get a similar call, do yourself a favour - hang up immediately and report the number. Definitely do not share any of your personal details!

I didn't recognise the number, so I chose to let it ring out. Upon investigating the area code and the number itself, it turns out they originate from Stoke-on-Trent. I have absolutely no ties to that locale, be it businesses or family connections. They didn’t leave a voicemail, which led me to suspect it was some sort of scam.
