This morning I got a call from someone claiming to be with Microsoft, warning me that hackers had got into my computer. I told her I’d have it looked at by PC World, but she insisted only Microsoft could sort it out. I ended the call, but she rang back and I told her not to bother calling me anymore. She spoke with an American accent, yet the number showed up as being from Stoke on Trent here in the UK. Might be a scam, but I’m not risking letting any cold caller near my PC.

Some bloke rang me supposedly from BT Openreach, talking about my internet speed. He asked me to download this app called tvqs, which turns out to is a screen sharing thing like TeamViewer. I told him straight up I’m not daft and there’s no way I’m lettin’ him access my phone. Then, just like that, he hung up on me.
