SCAM ALERT! The caller ID said it was from a mobile starting with 07897 when the phone rang, but once I checked the call log, it was actually a landline number. Didn’t pick up because I didn’t recognise it! They keep spoofing different numbers so blocking one makes no difference - they just call again from another fake number. After the call, I looked up the number here and it showed as the landline! Why isn’t GCHQ sorting these idiots out? TPS is useless, and those so-called “watchdogs” are just asleep at the wheel with no real power to stop this nonsense.

This morning, about 8:30 on 10/9/25, I got a call on my landline. Thankfully the answerphone picked up and stopped them straight away. I listened to the message with 1471 and had a feeling it might be a scam, so I looked it up here. Sure enough, it looks like just another one of those scam calls. Bet this is the start of loads more in 2025.

Got a call from a bloke saying he was Virgin Media checking on my broadband speed. We ran through a speed test, which seemed fine and safe enough. Then he tried to persuade me to install ANYDESK, some sort of remote access app. That’s when I cut off my phone’s internet and told him it wouldn’t download. I explained my phone had lost connection, and he just hung up straight away. Honestly, I’m a bit annoyed I even went along with it. To be fair, the call woke me up, so I wasn’t thinking clearly. Just a heads up to everyone - don’t fall for it, stay sharp out there!

So I got a call saying it was Virgin Media, but the person had a thick Indian accent. They claimed there was some issue with my router and even mentioned some details about it. Then the call suddenly just cut out and they never called again. Feels like a total scam to me...
