Today I finally answered, thinking it might be someone I was waiting to hear from, so I didn’t check the caller properly (should’ve been more careful, yeah). They used my first name and said they were from something like ICS or CIS, talking about a “government grant for people who own homes around here.” That was enough for me to cut the call straight away and put the phone down. Sounds like a classic trick to get you interested straight away. I’ve already blocked the number now.

The only thing that shut them down was when I said firmly, "I'm not able to afford it." I had someone come round a couple of years back - it’s an interesting idea, but cost-wise it just wasn’t doable for me.

I've received a handful of phone calls from this number lately. They appear to be a firm focused on "green energy," attempting to set up appointments for a so-called "complimentary" survey to promote their Air Source Heat Pump (ASHP) systems. Even though I've only just had a modern, efficient gas combi boiler installed, they persist in saying that swapping it out would be advantageous for both myself and the planet (while conveniently ignoring the financial benefits for them!). After conducting some digging on this matter, I genuinely believe that opting for their system would leave me significantly out of pocket. I suspect they're well aware of this too. I would strongly encourage anyone to tread carefully when engaging with this company and to carry out thorough research before contemplating the installation of an ASHP, particularly from this supplier.
