According to some info I found on Business Juice’s site (no affiliation to them or anything): This is a common scam when you’re moving into new business premises. The trick is basically bombardment with calls - 10, 20, even 30 in a row - until you’re pressured into giving in or scared into signing up. They’ll tell you that as a new occupant, you MUST have a valid energy contract right now or your supply will be cut off, or you’ll face expensive penalty charges. That’s total rubbish. If you move in, you automatically get supplied under the previous supplier’s agreement but you don’t inherit their contract. That supplier keeps providing your energy until you decide otherwise. If you don’t have a contract, you’re free to switch whenever you like or even make a deal with them whenever. There’s no need to rush. You’ll just be put on “deemed rates” which are usually a bit higher than contracted ones, but some providers might even refund the difference if you later arrange a deal. Just keep your cool if you get calls like this.
