Got a call from someone saying they were with Virgin Media, said my laptop was getting hacked. Went along with it for a bit, then told him “let me guess, you want me to access my computer?” Didn’t catch me off guard when he just hung up on me right away. Pretty clear it was a scam.

This number has rung my landline a couple of times in the past two days. When I pick up, there's just silence, then they hang up straight away. It's getting really annoying because I keep jumping to answer, thinking it might be urgent. Would be great if this could be stopped, cheers!

Got a second call from someone claiming they wanted to give me back £149.99, saying I’d been overcharged on my kitchen appliance insurance. Couldn’t get them to explain which appliance or what company they meant, probably because I’ve never even had insurance for my kitchen stuff. I kept them talking for about 15 minutes before telling them to stop wasting time and find a real job instead of trying to con people, some of whom might actually fall for it. Then the call just dropped. Blocked the number straight away.

I got a ring from this number the other day asking for my mum, who actually passed away 7 years ago. The weird thing is, this number was never hers, it’s just ours at home. With all the tech we’ve got now, these scam calls really should be blocked once and for all.

I missed a call from this number that showed up with the +44 code, so I guess they were ringing from somewhere outside the UK but trying to look local. When I didn’t pick up, they just ended the call.

I've gotten calls two days in a row now from those numbers. The first time I picked up, some woman started listing off charges or something, but I cut her off and asked where she was from. She said B.T, but told her I don't even work there. Then she just ended the call. The second time I answered, no one said anything and they just hung up on me.

Had a call from a lady with a foreign accent saying she was from Virgin Media about a problem with my internet. It sounded like a classic scam straight away, especially when she mentioned wanting to verify some details before arranging an engineer to visit. I told her I'd ring Virgin Media directly to sort it out. It's awful how they try to trick people, especially those who might not be so cautious.

Got a call on 5th October at 9:30am from someone saying his name was Michael. Honestly, I reckon it was probably a bloke called Gupta Singh behind it. Right at that moment, a message popped up on my PC claiming to be from BT with a one-time code for this "Michael". I told him he’d clearly practised his BT security lines and then made it clear I wasn’t falling for it. Pretty obvious scam from the start.

Got a really pushy bloke on the phone, sounded foreign, claiming to be from Microsoft tech support. He kept going on about my PC being hacked or something. I played along for a bit, then he turned nasty, accusing me of uploading porn and other dodgy stuff but couldn’t give any proof or location. I honestly don’t get why BT doesn’t clamp down on these calls - surely their systems can spot these scams happening over and over? Marked this one as dangerous because I reckon quite a few folks might fall for it.

There was that familiar pause, then they butchered my name, before launching into 'There’s something wrong with your computer' - quite clearly a scam. Honestly, it’s probably safer just to not answer or chat with them at all.
