Got a call from these guys at 10:31 on 27th Oct, but I wasn’t having any of it. They were pushing some sort of magazine subscription, and as soon as you pick up, you can hear a click then it switches over to a call centre abroad. Definitely looks like a dodgy scam, so watch out!

They keep ringing me but either cut off after just a few seconds or say nothing at all. They call both my landline and my mobile.

I was trying to talk to the owner or a manager of the shop. I explained I’m on the ex-directory and the number’s private, but she refused to say where they got my contact from. I was quite clear in telling her to take my number off their database.

Let the answerphone pick up the call. They didn't leave any message, even though it passed through our BT CALL GUARDIAN. I've now BLOCKED the number. Honestly, everyone should think about using a Call Guardian, it really helps keep those annoying calls away.

Got a call from a place claiming to be Fleet News (which we actually subscribe to), asking us to update our details to "keep the subscription going." They used the number 0161 814 9896 - I recognised it since I’ve talked to them before. I've even had a chat with them about another magazine, so it seems like just a general call centre gathering info. Honestly, I’m starting to get a bit less friendly with my answers now.

Pretty much the same as what others have said, it was a call from a foreign call centre (ignore the UK number, they use VoIP to hide their actual overseas location). They started asking about the business and wanted 'names' of important staff. Because we're a big national firm, we get loads of calls like this and have a strict rule not to share any names on the phone. Looks to me like they were just trynna collect info to sell on to other companies.

Bit worrying really, cos they were claiming to be from a major IT conference and wanted to check my work email and other details. When I asked how they got my personal number and if it was linked to work, they said they bought it from some third party. Tried to get the company name but they refused to say.
