Got a call from a number with my own area code and I first thought it was someone I knew. The caller claimed to be from Amazon, saying my Prime subscription hadn’t been paid. Since I don’t even have Amazon Prime, I instantly knew it was a con. Tried ringing back but the line was dead. I’m pretty clued up about scams but seriously, using local numbers like that is just nasty - it’s bound to catch out lots of folks who aren’t so careful!
