On Thursday 12th March at 15:09, my phone rang and I answered it. As soon as I said hello and asked who it was, all I could hear was someone shuffling papers nearby, but no one actually spoke. I repeated my greeting a couple of times, but after a brief pause, the call was just ended. It was clear someone was there since I could hear the rustling, yet not a single word was said before they hung up. Considering I was waiting for a call from this number, it was quite frustrating and left a bad impression. Not a very pleasant experience at all.

A voice, quite neutral with no discernible accent, informed me it was an NHS line and advised me not to fret as they'd be in touch again. However, after browsing through the stories shared by other users here, I quickly realised this is nothing short of a vile scam aimed at siphoning off money through unsuspecting victims’ phone bills while exploiting their health anxieties. As a pensioner in my eighties, I’m still quite alert and have since blocked that number. I sincerely hope others follow suit, steering clear of falling into the trap that has ensnared some folks, who appear to have been rather gullible.
