On Thursday 12th March at 15:09, my phone rang and I answered it. As soon as I said hello and asked who it was, all I could hear was someone shuffling papers nearby, but no one actually spoke. I repeated my greeting a couple of times, but after a brief pause, the call was just ended. It was clear someone was there since I could hear the rustling, yet not a single word was said before they hung up. Considering I was waiting for a call from this number, it was quite frustrating and left a bad impression. Not a very pleasant experience at all.

They explained the reason clearly and set a new date for next week. I honestly think folks just should pick up rather than jumping to the conclusion that every call is dodgy. Missed answering when it rang, so I called back the number shown. A person with a plain English voice said it was from the NHS and told me not to stress as they would call again soon. After checking this website and reading others’ stories, I realised it’s a nasty scam meant to make money through phone charges and exploit people’s health worries. Even though I’m in my eighties, I’m not daft and have blocked the number. Hopefully, others will do the same and won’t fall for this trick like some clearly have.
