Got a call from someone saying they're linked with the NHS and want to promote my childcare service on some new website they're launching. The weird thing is, my landline's never been posted online, so I can't figure out how they found my number.

I had the misfortune of receiving a call from a rather dodgy telemarketer who clearly hasn't got a clue about his own company. When I inquired about who he represented, he fumbled between claiming to be from the Post Office, then stated he worked for himself, and finally mentioned something about Marketing Direct. He insisted they adhere to the Telephone Preference Service rules but couldn’t provide their registration details when pressed. When I probed further into the legitimacy of his call, he ended up pointing fingers at me for having our number publicly available. Quite flustered by my questions, he abruptly slammed the ‘phone down on me. This is a blatant disregard for TPS regulations, and I highly recommend that everyone steers clear of these TPS offenders and reports them accordingly.

Got a call from a telemarketer who rang my number even though it's on the TPS register. When I asked which company they worked for, they gave me different answers - first said it was the Post Office, then claimed it was their own business, then mentioned Marketing Direct. They said they were signed up to the TPS but couldn’t provide any registration details. When I pressed about the call, they just said it was my fault because my number is "publicly available." Got a bit weird and ended the call abruptly. Honestly, this kind of dodgy behaviour just shows TPS rules aren’t being respected. I reckon anyone ignoring TPS should be reported and just blocked outright.
