I've had a similar experience. This outfit claiming to handle PPI claims got in touch, probing for details about a car accident that supposedly took place back in 2011-an accident that never even occurred!

It's all quite ludicrous, really. I suspect their aim was simply to get me to file a claim, knowing it would end up being a wild goose chase, whilst pocketing my cash in the process.
