It sounded like one of those sketchy scams you hear about all the time. I didn’t hang about and just ended the call. Just a heads up to be careful!

Got a call from a lady with an Asian accent saying she was from Amazon Prime. She insisted I was being charged £79.99 monthly unless I cancelled right away. She claimed the money had already left my account and urged me to download some cancellation document onto my phone. When I wouldn’t share my number, she got a bit stroppy, saying something like, "So you’re just fine letting the money come out then?" Told her I’d sort it if needed and hung up. Totally felt like a scam to me.

Got a call today from 01772 231887 at about 8.56am on the 7th of October. The number's from Preston, but the bloke on the line was foreign and claimed to be from Open Reach, which isn’t a company I deal with at all. I ended the call pretty quickly. Used 1471 to check the number afterwards, but they didn’t give an option to call back. Seems dodgy to me, probably a scam and felt like they were trying to hassle me.

Got a call supposedly from Virgin Media using this number. They asked me to switch on my laptop or phone and download teamviewer. Seemed fishy since that would let them get into my device’s data... especially when the problem was with the internet router, not anything to do with my gadgets. I told them I only have an iPad, and they seemed annoyed (guess that’s harder to hack or something?).

There was loads of noise in the background, sounded like a call centre for sure. A bloke with a South East Asian accent called himself Jason (yeah, right) and said he was from BT Openreach. He told me my router had been sending errors for a couple of days. When I asked how they could link my router to my phone number, he just hung up straight away, which a real BT person definitely wouldn’t do - very dodgy. Surely one of the phone companies has an address connected to this number, why aren’t the authorities getting that info? Feels like a classic scam to me.

I had a rather peculiar call earlier concerning my Virgin connection. The person on the line claimed there was an issue that required immediate attention. After a lengthy 20 minutes of back-and-forth, the lady mentioned she'd connect me to a senior executive to expedite the rectification. Just as I was bracing myself for more lengthy explanations, they abruptly disconnected. Fingers crossed no harm has been done in the meantime!

Given that my router is protected by a password, I was certain it was a ruse. I requested that she send a verification code to the mobile number linked to my account, but she flat out said she couldn’t manage that! Instead, she tried to threaten me, saying she would suspend my service for a month if I didn’t comply. So, I ended the call. Be wary, folks - don’t let yourself fall for such tricks!

Got a call from a woman with an Asian accent claiming she was with Virgin tech support. I told her I’m not a Virgin customer and then I just ended the call. Pretty clear that was a scam try.

Got a call earlier today from 01772 231887, the person said they were calling on behalf of Virgin Media. I asked them to confirm who they really were, and they just ended the call straight away. Obviously, it was a scam. Be careful with this number, though I’m sure they’ll use a different one next time to try and trick people.

This morning I got a call from 01772231887. A man with an accent, claiming to be from BT, told me there was an issue with my internet. He started with the typical “switch on your computer” routine. I chatted with him for about 10 minutes, but then he said he needed to connect me to a “technician” because I wasn’t following what he wanted me to do in my browser. Maybe that’s because I’m on an iPad, not a PC! Classic scam attempt.

Got a call from someone claiming they were from Virgin BB, telling me hackers were trying to get into my internet while I was online. They said they wanted to help improve my security, but I don't reckon it was legit. Definitely be careful with calls like this!

This guy, sounded Asian, rang me up saying there’s an issue with my Virgin Internet. I played along, messing him about a bit, then told him to shove off in no uncertain terms before I hung up.

I let out a sigh and mumbled "Oh no, not these lot again" when they didn’t pick up yet again - just more scammers, I reckon!

Got a call from a guy who said he was from Virgin Media, mentioned there was some kind of issue with our router and that someone was trying to hack into our network. He sounded Asian. Didn't hang about, I just cut the call straight off. Definitely felt like a scam to me.

Somebody rang up saying they were from Virgin Media, telling me my security was at risk. They wanted to find out about all the gadgets I’ve got at home. I joked that I communicate with smoke signals and a tin can on a string, and he went all cheeky, saying I was probably on something and told me to buzz off.

Beware, this so-called Virgin Media caller is just a scam. They couldn’t even follow their own scripted lines properly, and the funniest part was them dumb enough to give out their phone number. Total amateur move, easy to track down.

Got a call from a woman with a foreign accent asking about Virgin Media, then she started asking for my account info. I've been getting loads of these dodgy scam calls lately so I told her I actually work as a local Virgin Media broadband engineer. She didn’t like that and just ended the call straight away.

I got a call from some number in Preston, but since I don't know anyone there, I just ignored it. Plus, they didn’t even have the decency to leave a message or say who they were. Bit rude really.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from Virgin about my internet usage. I told her my internet was blocked and it’s obviously a scam. She then claimed Virgin’s tech team would contact me soon. Complete nonsense. This number really needs to be blocked. I’ve reported it to [email protected] and also to Virgin.

Got a call from a guy with an Indian accent claiming to be from Virgin Media. I told him I doubted it was legit and that it sounded like a scam. He said he'd send me some info so I could verify the call and asked if I had a pen ready. Just as he was about to give the details, the call suddenly cut off! This kind of thing happens two or three times every week nowadays, and honestly, I’m getting really fed up with the whole thing!

Got a call from a guy with an Asian accent saying he was from Virgin Media, which is my provider, telling me there was an issue and they’d have to suspend my internet but he could sort it out. He asked if I was near my laptop or PC. Total scam, obviously. I told him just go ahead and suspend it, and he snapped back with ‘are you stupid?’. I said no, and told him I wasn’t falling for that rubbish, then he just ended the call.

I've received no fewer than ten phone calls from this number in just two days. Having perused the comments here, I’m quite relieved that I didn’t answer! Should you find yourself in a similar situation, if you do happen to pick up, don’t comply with anything they ask-just hang up immediately. Clearly, it’s a scam!

I received a call from an individual with what sounded like an Indian accent, who claimed to represent BT Openreach. When I pressed him for verification, asking three different times, his response was that my Internet provider was BT. I quickly pointed out that this was incorrect, so I demanded to know his true identity. In a rather cheeky manner, he responded by saying "my father," to which I rightly retorted that he couldn't be. When I insisted on a proper introduction, he rudely told me to shove off before cutting the line. What a shame, as I was gearing up to leave a rather amusing remark!
