Got a robotic call saying thanks for my Amazon order and that it'll be sent in a day, plus that £5,000 was taken from my bank. They said if I didn't order, press a button - which I obviously ignored. Very dodgy!

A couple of comments below will show you exactly how to deal with these scams. Don’t expect others to do it for you. If everyone in the UK who gets these scam texts and calls every day takes some action, the police and government will have no choice but to tackle these crooks properly. Reporting these scams doesn’t take much time at all. I’ve bookmarked the ‘Action Fraud’ site and even contacted my MP (got a rather ‘unique’ reply!). I also forward scam emails and texts to ‘[email protected]’ - saved as a quick contact on my phone. But it’s no use if only I’m doing it.

Received a call where they wanted to talk to Mrs Andrew ***** and checked if the address they mentioned was right. Then they asked a few more questions, but their English was really hard to follow - sounded like they might be from India or Pakistan. They wanted me to verify an age range or something, but by then I knew it was dodgy. I nicely told them to stop calling and blocked the number straight away.
