BE CAREFUL, IT'S A CON: I received a call from a woman with a thick Indian accent who seemed to know my name. She proceeded to quiz me about solar heating systems, insulation, and eco-friendly products. However, she totally fluffed my name and mistakenly called me Mr. Jones, which is a classic trick used by these fraudsters targeting Welsh numbers. Stay vigilant and don’t hesitate to just hang up!

I picked up the phone since the number looked local, but as soon as a man with an Asian accent said "Hello Mrs Owen," I just ended the call straight away. What really freaked me out was that it was my home landline ringing and he somehow already knew my name.

Heads up, this is a scam! I got a call from a woman with an Indian accent who acted like she knew me and asked about stuff like solar heating and insulation for homes. While I was out working in Snowdonia, a call came through with a Porthmadoc area code. I’m always wary of numbers like that, especially when I’m away from home. I reckon they might’ve tracked my phone’s location to make it seem local. Didn’t answer it at all. They tried ringing me once more about a week later. I decided to check the number online and found loads of comments warning it’s a scam, pretending to be from a government office. Best to be careful, just like I was.
