I received a rather dubious automated call claiming that my internet service was on the verge of being suspended within the next day due to some alleged suspicious activity. Naturally curious about this so-called 'scam', I opted to press 2 to have a chat with their supposed 'Technical Director.' To my surprise, I was connected to a fellow with a distinctly Indian accent. When I inquired about the company he represented, he stated he was from Open Reach, supposedly acting on behalf of Virgin, BT, and nearly every other internet provider under the sun. He reiterated the threat of my internet being switched off imminently due to the so-called suspicious activity. I didn't stick around to hear more of his nonsense. To add to the oddity, he called me back from yet another number (01234 567890, which I've duly reported). This oddball attempted to reach me three times before I ended up blocking both numbers.
