I answered since they’ve called a couple of times already, and I was curious if it was legit or just another scam. I didn’t give them any private info apart from confirming an account number and some code, which they supposedly can’t do much with. It all sounded quite proper at the time, but reading these comments now makes me wonder if I’ve been duped. Fingers crossed I’m okay, but honestly, it’s a bit stressful waiting to find out.

Today I decided to call back, keeping my caller ID hidden, and all I got was a recorded voice saying they are from some ‘protection service,’ reassuring me there’s nothing to worry about and that they’d call again if needed. Sounds a bit dodgy to me, so I've gone ahead and blocked the number to stop them bugging me any more.
