This week I’ve had loads of dodgy calls, like this one here. The number popped up as unknown and they didn’t bother leaving a message. Earlier on today, I got another call with my local area code pretending to be from my bank, saying something about money being taken out. Not sure if both calls were connected, but it’s mad how much spam is coming through recently!

I just let it ring out and didn’t bother answering or leaving any message. Glad I looked it up here first to make sure I was doing the right thing.

Got a call earlier today, had to ask who was calling about three times. The lady said Sky owed me more than £200! I told her we’re not even with Sky, and before I could say anything else, she just hung up on me.

Got a robo call claiming it was bank security about strange transactions on my account - they said there were two payments, one for £300 from Amazon and another for £1000 from some online store. They told me to press one if I wanted to stop the charges and talk to someone. I just ended the call and blocked the number straight away.

Received a call on the 19th of June, 2024, from some chaps purporting to be insurance representatives for my kitchen gadgets. They claimed I'd overpaid and was owed a reimbursement of £149. Naturally, I decided to have a bit of fun and strung them along for as long as I could. I kept asking if they had my details, like my name and postcode, why not simply pop a cheque in the post? After a bit, the line went silent. I’m not exactly counting on seeing that money anytime soon!

Received a call on the landline today. I answered with a cheerful "hello," but there was silence on the other end. It felt like they were merely testing if someone picked up. The line remained open, so I decided to hang up. I wouldn’t be surprised if they try calling again-these scams are everywhere nowadays!

Sounds like a total scam to me. The caller had a thick Indian accent and said something about being from a wi-fi company, but I couldn’t catch the exact name. When I asked him to spell it out, he just couldn’t, then suddenly ended the call. Definitely dodgy.

Got a call with nothing said, probably some scammer who forgot to hit play on their recorded message. Remember, your bank will never ring out of the blue or ask you to confirm who you are. These callers are just guessing numbers. Be sharp and don’t let these cheats get away with it!

Had a call earlier from a man with a foreign accent, there was a weird silence before he started talking. He said he was from BT and mentioned issues with my internet, like bugs and scams or something about my WIFI. When I told him thanks but I’ll reach out to BT open reach on my own, he seemed unhappy. I just ended the call.

Got a call from this number claiming to be Virgin Media. Some guy with an accent was telling me my WiFi had problems. I said I’d ring Virgin Media myself, but he just kept pushing about the WiFi issues. Eventually, I told him to leave me alone and hang up. Pretty sure I caught him muttering something like ‘stupid’. Honestly, it feels like they’re targeting people who might not know better. This kind of thing really has to end.

I got a call from a woman claiming to be with BT, telling me there was a problem with my internet security. She actually knew my name and address, which was pretty creepy, but it was obvious she was trying to scam me. She said I needed to look at my computer screen and asked what was showing up. When I asked to speak to BT’s main complaints team, she handed me over to a man who got rude once I said it sounded like a scam. I ended the call, then rang back out of curiosity, but the line just rang out busy.

I received a rather suspicious call from someone claiming to be from BT. He insisted he needed to disconnect all my appliances due to some issue. I explained that we're actually with Virgin Media, but he brushed that aside, asserting that BT was the main provider for VM and had the authority to intervene. He even accused us of partaking in dodgy internet activities like money laundering and other nonsense! I mentioned that if there were any real concerns, Virgin Media would be in touch with me directly and promptly hung up.

A chap rang me claiming to be from BT, insisting he had to cut off all my devices. When I mentioned we were with Virgin Media, he claimed to be their parent provider and therefore in charge. He even went as far as to accuse me of using my internet connection for dodgy dealings like money laundering and a few other 'suspicions'. I informed him that Virgin Media would reach out if there were any issues, and then I promptly hung up.

I received a call from someone claiming to be my internet service provider. They insisted I log onto my laptop to verify my internet speed. I calmly pointed out that I hadn’t encountered any problems with my connection, and that I’d reach out to my genuine provider if anything was amiss.
