I got a recorded message thanking me for renewing my Amazon Prime, then it asked me to press 1 or 2 to talk about it. I didn’t pick anything and just hung up. I’m sure my Prime isn’t up for renewal yet, so this felt like a scam trying to trick me into giving my account details. Watch out for these calls!

I got a call from some guy claiming he was with Sky, said there was a problem with my internet. He told me to visit some website called “validator” on my laptop. I didn’t feel right about it, especially since he never asked for any of my account info. When I told him I didn’t think he was legit, he just dropped the call. Felt fishy to me.

Some bloke rang claiming he was from Virgin Media. I asked him to give me my account number and he just pulled a number out of thin air. Honestly, he sounded pretty sure of himself, so if you don't actually know your own number, you'd probably get fooled. I told him straight up "that's not my account number, you're not with Virgin Media," but he kept insisting he was and that the number was correct. I told him again he wasn’t genuine and then he just ended the call.

Got a call from a bloke speaking with an Indian accent saying he was from BT Openreach. He had no clue who I was, so I told him he’d dialled the wrong number and hung up. Pretty clear it was a scam. Looks like a few others here have had the same thing, but he’s pretended to be from Sky and some other companies too.

I got a call from 01761472216, but when I picked up, there was complete silence. Sounds like one of those automated systems that ring loads of people at the same time, and only the quickest to answer actually get put through to a real person. I found if you keep hitting 0 or say "agent" loudly, it can break through the automation so you can speak to someone and find out what's going on. Also, if you have call barring switched on, they’ll have to use a different number next time. BT customers can get call barring for free, but you’ve got to register for it online first.

They’ve called me like 4 times this morning, and 3 of them were almost back to back within a minute. The bloke said he was from BT Openreach, said there was something wrong with my line. Said his name was Alan Turner, but honestly, with that thick Asian accent, I didn’t buy it at all. I told him straight up I wasn’t convinced, but he just kept on pushing. Got fed up and told him I thought he was lying, and then he had the cheek to call me a liar! Ridiculous.
