Heaps of folks reported this as a dodgy number. When my phone asked them to say who they were, no reply at all. Sounds like classic scammer behaviour to me. I've gone ahead and blocked it so it can't bother me again.

Got a call from 01761453521 at about quarter past eight this morning, but when the answerphone picked up, just silence. They rang me back three more times later on, which happens pretty much every Saturday. I reckon this is some kind of dodgy scam number from abroad, targeting England and Wales. I’ve reported it to Action Fraud over here in Scotland and also told the cops, police 101.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming it was about the telephone preference service. They asked me to confirm that my phone bill was being paid by direct debit. I said no way and told them it sounded like a scam. They kept going on about how the TPS would be cancelled if I didn’t comply. I just cut the call after that.

Just got cut off as soon as it went to voicemail - probably one of those scam calls again! (Near the library)

What really bugs me is getting calls where there's no voicemail. The caller hangs up too quickly to actually say anything. The tricky part is, I do know folks who have numbers starting with 01761, so I'm caught in a bit of a mix-up.

Got a call from 01761 453521, some bloke with an Asian accent who said his name was Steve. He started going on about the TPS - telephone preference service or something. When I told him my direct debit info wasn’t any of his business, he just ended the call straight away.
