Beware of a Sky Broadband scam going around. They call saying they're checking your internet speed, then try to get you to install some software that supposedly boosts your Sky Broadband speed. But really, it's just a trick to get into your computer. Definitely not safe!

Got a couple of calls just 20 minutes apart from someone pretending to be Sky, saying there were issues with my broadband and wifi. The first call cut off after about half a minute. When they rang again, I mentioned it was the second time they'd phoned and they responded with, “If it’s sorted, why did you call us?” Wasn't having any of it and just ended the call. Proper nonsense!

This number rang me up at about 8.10 in the morning, saying they were from some firm called "Michael Fox"! I’m pretty sure the actor wouldn’t be chuffed to have his name used like that, especially to scare folk about dodgy stuff happening on their computers. I listened to the woman ramble on for a while before telling her my PC was actually with a technician and politely told her to jog on and stop bothering me! I’m 72, but that doesn’t mean I’m daft.

It seems I received a call purporting to be from my internet service provider, but they couldn't clarify which network I'm actually connected to. Got a call from 01759303071 on 25th Sept 2020, around 10:57am. When I picked up, there was no one there, they just dropped the call - one of those silent calls. After checking out the feedback here, I’m pretty sure it’s a scam. If they ring again and I’m not busy, I might just mess about with 'em a bit, waste their time but won’t share any details.

On Thursday 24/09/20 around 3.25pm I got a phone call from a guy with a really thick Indian accent. He said his last name was Johnson - which sounds a bit fake if you ask me - and claimed he was ringing from Microsoft about my computer. I told him straight up he was not telling the truth, hung up, and blocked the number afterwards.

Got a call claiming to be from Sky saying there was a problem with my router. I told them I’m not a Sky customer, but they argued that since Sky’s a major provider, it must be the same network. Then they went on about someone else using my internet. I said that’s impossible, my Wi-Fi’s password protected. They insisted hackers were still getting in. Then he told me his name was Joe Phillips. I said, "If I ring Sky and ask for Joe Phillips, would they put me through to you?" and that was when he just dropped the call. Pretty fishy if you ask me.

Some bloke rang claiming to be from Sky IT, saying my WiFi router had been sending out viruses and they’d got loads of alerts about it over the past couple of weeks. I told him that I get loads of dodgy calls from muppets, so he needed to confirm the account holder’s name before I’d believe anything. He offered his phone number instead, but I told him I’d already tried that and it didn’t prove he was genuine. Then I asked for the router’s make and MAC address to be sure. That’s when he just hung up on me.

It was an automated voice claiming to be from Amazon, telling me that there had been a purchase of a gift card linked to my account, and asking me to verify the transaction. The thing is, I don’t even have an Amazon account! It’s clearly a scam.

Somebody rang me pretending to be from Amazon, saying there was a £49 gift card bought using my account. They wanted me to visit a Google link to "secure" my account. When I asked for any info about my recent orders or anything, they couldn’t give me any details. Seemed really suspicious to me. The only thing they got right was my last name. Total scam, 100% dodgy!

I got a call from 01759303071 claiming to be from Microsoft, telling me my computer was hacked and full of viruses. They wanted me to open my PC and read a message they supposedly sent, then asked me to verify my info. I told them it was a scam and hung up straight away. Tried calling back a minute later but the number was blocked. Watch out for this one! The phone company said they can't do much about these calls, probably cause they get paid somehow, but if I hadn’t paid my bill, they’d cut me off quick enough. It’s mad how these scammers keep getting through.

Someone called looking for Mr Brown, but he's not at this number. I told them that and they just hung up. Despite being on the TPS, I’m still getting these annoying calls!
