I promptly informed him that I wasn't a BT customer and had no such problems. He insisted that BT oversaw the service for all ISPs. He then inquired whether I saw any indicator lights flashing on my modem and asked what device I was using for internet access. When I mentioned I had a laptop, he requested that I switch it on. At that point, my instincts kicked in, and I decided to contact my internet provider directly instead.
