On the morning of 28th May 2019 at around 10:47, I got a robocall pretending to be from BT saying there was a problem with my internet. They told me to press 1 to speak to an engineer, threatening to cut off my internet if I didn’t. I just ended the call. Later that day I rang BT’s official support, who said they recognised the number as part of a scam. Since I’m not a BT customer, though, they wouldn’t help me out any further. If what BT say is true and this scam number is well known, they should have shut it down by now and the scammers locked up. The fact that the number's still active suggests the provider is somehow complicit and should be held accountable for letting this fraud continue to make money.
