I've had a call from this number and it actually belongs to Barclays. It's not listed publicly and my dad's branch used it so they could confirm who he was. Someone from the bank rang our home, spoke with my dad directly, and I managed to confirm both their identities. They might sound a bit suspicious when they call because they’re careful not to share a cardholder’s details with just anyone, probably to keep everyone safe. Plus, since it’s usually an unlisted number, it looks a bit shady - but now it’s out there, naturally 🙄.

I got a ring from this number, but it only lasted a couple of rings before it stopped. I called back straight away. Since I’m aware of these scams, I didn’t say a word when someone picked up, but strangely no one actually answered.

I chatted with Action Fraud, who told me these calls are usually spoofed - the number is often randomly created by software and might not even be tied to a real phone line.

If they do call again and ask for my details, I’m definitely planning to give them a fake name just for a laugh.

I got a call from someone claiming to be Tom at my nearby Barclays branch, saying it was just a quick ‘well-being’ check. Then he asked if I’d run through some security questions with him. I told him I wasn’t comfortable sharing any security info and that everything was fine with me and my account. He was really polite though, saying I could ring him back on the same number if I needed to. After the call, I looked up the number on Barclays’ official list and it isn’t there at all.

Got a call from this number but decided not to pick up cause I didnt recognise it. Looked it up afterwards and turned out to be one of those annoying nuisance calls.

Received a call from someone claiming to be from HSBC, saying they'd located my bank card. They asked me to ring 01928584421 to report it as stolen.

Somebody called saying they needed to talk to whoever handles the banking. When I asked which bank, she answered Katie from Barclays. Problem is, I’m not with Barclays at all! How on earth did they get hold of my number?
