9 yearsI got a call from someone claiming to be from Microsoft, saying they had to remotely access my computer to stop hackers from getting in. It’s a sketchy scam for sure - they’re really after your bank details and passwords. Total danger, watch out!Microsoft9 yearsI received a rather dubious phone call from someone claiming to be a "Microsoft technician," which immediately raised my suspicions. I mean, you can't exactly ring them up, can you? The chap had me run a cmd search on my PC, and then he presented a code at the end, claiming it was proof of his authenticity (as if all computers don’t generate the same code!). He then attempted to coax me into visiting a website so he could gain remote control to "scan for viruses" on my machine. I cleverly played the part of a muddled computer novice for about twenty minutes, feigning a lack of knowledge (I may not always be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I’m certainly not that daft!). Eventually, the scammer caught on and unleashed a torrent of profanities that lasted a good twenty seconds-obscene names and crude insults flew from him at a rapid pace. I couldn't resist pointing out his repetition of the same insult, which just made him sound rather foolish (and it does, doesn't it?). At this, he abruptly slammed down the phone without so much as a farewell. Quite impolite, really. What a shame I didn't record the entire exchange; it was absolutely hilarious! I won’t be answering calls from that number again, that's for sure.Microsoft9 yearsI just picked up and the second the answer machine started, they hung up right away.9 yearsBasically, this is a con where they pull the zfsendtotarget clsid gimmick to make you think they’re legit. Next, they show you your event viewer logs and say hackers have been messing with your system. Once they've got you convinced, they guide you into installing some remote viewing free software so they can get control of your computer.9 yearsGot a call from this number, and some bloke named Eric Dawson said he was from the Windows Technologies Service Centre. When I asked for more details, he claimed to be at 100 Victoria Street in London, but when I asked for a contact number, he just shut off the phone. Definitely felt like a scam to me.Eric DawsonWindows Technologies Services CentreVictoria StreetLondon9 yearsGot no messages or clues about who called. Should I just block this number?9 yearsThis number keeps calling me but I havent picked up. Since no one has left a message or said they were trying to get in touch, I’m guessing it’s just one of those annoying telemarketer or survey calls.9 yearsA complete numpty phoned me earlier, spouting off my full name and address, claiming to be from Windows and insisting that my computer had some issues. I let him waffle on for a while before pointing out that he had no affiliation with Windows whatsoever. Quite amusingly, he hung up rather abruptly!9 yearsJust had a rather peculiar phone call from someone claiming to be from the Microsoft Service Centre, and oddly enough, he asked for me by name. He had the audacity to instruct me to stop jabbering, even though I hadn’t uttered a word yet, and then demanded I fire up my computer. He even went so far as to call me thick and insisted I follow his orders. Naturally, I told him he was nothing but a scammer and bid him farewell in rather colourful language. I promptly hung up afterwards.MicrosoftService Centre9 yearsThe caller uttered my name right off the bat and claimed to be from the Microsoft Service Centre. I immediately sensed something was off, told him he was fibbing, and promptly ended the conversation.MicrosoftService CentreSubmit Your Own Report (17529411977)
