I got a call from a woman speaking with a heavy accent, claiming she was from BT and warning me about some dodgy stuff going on with my internet. I played along, acting like I was following her instructions. She asked me what colour the lights on my router were, then told me to find the control key on my keyboard and press it together with the letter 'R'. When she asked what appeared on my screen, I just said "scam" to let her know. This charming lady wasn’t having any of it and told me pretty bluntly to... well, you can guess!

I reckon the same lot rang me before, using some 0208 number. They weren’t your everyday scam callers though. Had a proper thick Irish accent, like the travellers around here (I’m in a traveller area, and it was on my landline). They started asking about my computer, so I just hung up. Then they called back again, and this time they wanted to speak to a mate of mine in Polish. When he didn’t, they got really nasty and started threatening to ring the cops.
