Chappy with a thick drawl rang asking for the house owner. Claimed he was from some energy saving firm and was reaching out to locals who might qualify for assistance. I just said 'no cheers' and ended the call. Have since blocked the number with BT’s 1572 call protect.

Received a rather dubious call about upgrading my double glazing, suggesting that mine might be rather outdated. They hinted at significant discounts supposedly set aside, but when I probed about whether this was part of any government initiative, they scurried away from a direct answer. Instead, they claimed to be a benevolent firm keen on providing me with a major reduction. Decided it was best to end the conversation right then and there. The number appeared to be from Selkirk.

When 01750488011 showed up on my phone, I picked up but stayed silent (this is so I can block the last answered call on my Call Protect app). I could hear loads of shouting and noise from a call centre in the background, then the caller clearly said, "Bloody hell", pressed a few buttons and hung up. When I tried to block the number using BT Call Protect, it said the number wasn’t valid and couldn’t be blocked. If they ring again, I’ll answer quiet again and waste a bit more of their time.

Just had the most awful bloke on the phone. I said we weren’t interested in windows but he kept pushing, asking loads of questions. I told him if I wanted windows I’d sort it myself and that these cold calls are getting ridiculous. Then he had the nerve to tell me to go back to South Africa - proper racist comment. Tried to ring his company to complain but the number’s dead. Totally shocked by this.

I rang the number back and got a message saying “This number isn’t in service”. There’s no way to opt out but if you’re on the TPS you shouldn’t be getting calls like this in the first place! It’s so annoying how these pest callers slip through the cracks. They’re clever, too, pretending to be local so you’re more likely to pick up. It really feels like an invasion of privacy. Honestly, these calls need to be tackled properly soon.

Got a call earlier, no sound at all. I rang back using my mobile’s free minutes and hid my number. A Scottish woman answered, said the number’s dead! But she just rang me! Maybe it’s a Scottish company about home security or something sharing info? Weird.

I picked up on my landline here in Edinburgh and greeted with a kid's voice saying "Heh-woh" over and over. A guy with a thick Scottish accent, sounding dead bored, said he gets paid by the hour and can chat all day if he wants. Asked for the house owner but gave no other details about himself. Weird bloke just stayed quiet while I was making a smoothie. He ended up hanging up, clearly not telling the truth.
