My 90 year old mum got a call on her landline from someone with a thick accent that was hard to follow. The caller claimed that someone had made a purchase on Amazon using my name and said she needed to check her emails straight away because they’d sent a message about it. Thing is, my name isn’t linked to my mum’s number, and she doesn’t even have an email account. It was pretty obvious to me that it was a scam, but I worry someone older might fall for it. I looked up the number afterwards and sure enough, it’s known as an Amazon scam.

Just had another one of those typical scams, with someone trying to gain access to my computer while claiming to be from Amazon.

I got a call from someone claiming to be at 14 Hanover Street London and told me to turn on my computer to check an email about my Amazon account. When I asked what the email was about, the caller just dropped the line. Watch out, it’s definitely a spam call!

I received a call from someone claiming to be in relation to a transaction on my Amazon account. When I probed a bit more, he stated that he was located at 14 Hanover Street in London, which felt a bit off. He then insisted that he needed access to my computer because he had supposedly sent me an email. The thing is, I haven't received any email from him at all! Definitely a dodgy call-best to exercise caution!

Some bloke with an Indian accent was muttering stuff, I told him to speak louder cos I couldn’t catch what he said, then he just hung up on me. These damn scammers are such a pain in the arse.

So, I get this call and the person says, “Hi, I’m calling from Amazon. Do you own a computer?” I said yes. Then they asked if I’d switched it on today, and of course, I said yes again. Then they asked if I’d gotten any messages from Amazon. I said no, thanks, I’d check. Then I quickly ended the call! Honestly, do these people think I’m daft just because my speech issues make me sound older? Proper annoying! 🤬🤬🤬

Got a call today claiming to be from Amazon saying a smart phone was ordered on my 84 year old dad's account and he was sent an email about it. Thankfully we picked up and spotted it was a scam right away. We played along for a bit, but the moment we denied any email, they just cut the call. If BT run that line, they really ought to do something about whoever’s using it. We’ve gone ahead and blocked that number now.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent pretending to be from Amazon. They claimed my account showed suspicious charges and that they had 'frozen' it. Then asked me for my card info to cancel the supposed payment. Definitely a scam!

I received a call from someone who had an Asian accent, claiming that there was a security issue with my Amazon account supposedly linked to someone from Devon. Ironically, I’ve got a family member named Devon, so for a split second, I was worried it was him trying to access my account.

It's worth noting that I'm not in the least prejudiced against people of Asian descent; however, I do find it a bit challenging to comprehend certain accents, including that one. I have my own accent too, but when it comes to important calls, I always do my best to speak clearly and listen attentively.
