Got a call saying my visa was charged twice, wanted to check my details with me. Feels like a scam to me.

Got a call from someone claiming they worked for an O2 subcontractor, pitching a cheaper SIM-only deal. They sent me an email asking for my bank details. I rang O2 themselves to check and they told me I was right to be wary and not to go ahead. Definitely a scam.

Got a call claiming to be from TalkTalk saying my computer had viruses. They couldn’t even confirm the email I supposedly used. I just ended the call right there.

Received a ring from this number not long ago. Thought I'd answer since it was one I hadn't encountered before. Just dead air, much like countless others. Gave it a miss and hung up.

An absolute nuisance rang my landline earlier, claiming to be from Virgin Media, and said my internet was sluggish. I insisted he provide his number so I could ring back when it suited me. He completely disregarded my request and just carried on talking over me. In the end, I told him to get lost!

I tried using 1471 to check a number, and when I called back, it just said ‘number not recognised’. It’s really frustrating, especially when you’re job hunting and every ring could be a potential employer or recruitment agency!

Totally a scam! They said there was an issue with my internet, so I asked which company they were with. The guy said BT, which isn’t true. Then he just disconnected on me.

An Asian lady rang me up claiming there was an issue with my computer's performance. I played along for a bit, acting as though I was heeding her advice, all the while trying to shield some unsuspecting soul from having their machine taken over for a ransom. After a while, she seemed to realise what I was up to and ended the call.

Every now and then, this number rings me up and I found out it's connected to the TalkTalk scam after visiting a different site. If loads of us head over to the TalkTalk website and flag this as a nuisance call, they’ll probably block it across their network. Might be worth a shot!

I allowed this fool to prattle on about the issues I was having with my computer, only to cut him off and advise him to sort out his own nonsense before trying to advise me. My understanding of tech dwarfs his! He must have realised he was out of his depth, as he ended the call rather abruptly.

I let this bloke prattle on about my computer issues, and then I suggested he sort out who's feeding him a load of rubbish before he starts talking nonsense. My understanding of computers is way beyond his, you see. He wasn't too keen on my input and promptly ended the call.

I tried the 1471 service after spotting this number on my landline. When I attempted to ring them back, all I got was an endless ringing sound, as if the line was dead. How on earth does that happen? Has anyone else experienced something similar?

I’m really wondering what TalkTalk is actually doing about this whole situation... absolutely nothing, it seems! I genuinely regret not sticking with AOL; everything seemed to go downhill after TalkTalk had that security lapse.

Received a rather unexpected phone call earlier. The caller asserted he was representing BT regarding my internet service. I decided to end the conversation abruptly as I don’t even use BT for my broadband needs.

A gentleman rang me up claiming that there were issues with my internet connection. He introduced himself as a representative from the national provider and urged me to power up my computer. However, when I declined, his tone shifted, and he warned me not to point fingers at them if my internet woes escalated. Quite alarming, really!
