At about 1:20pm on the 2nd of December, I got a call from someone claiming to be from the postcode lottery. They already had my full info - name, address, postcode - and wanted me to verify it so they could supposedly tell me I'd won discount cards for shopping. Then they started asking which age bracket I was in. I told them straight away I was recording the conversation and called them out for running a scam.

Got a random call from a bloke with a South Asian accent claiming his name was 'Simon'. He said he was ringing from the ‘Post Code Lottery’ to tell me I’d won some sort of discount card that’d give me 30-40% off at every supermarket in the UK - he rattled off loads of shop names too. I didn’t buy it for a second and just hit block. There’s no chance he’s actually ‘Simon’ or from the ‘Post Code Lottery’, and that discount card’s a load of rubbish. Just ignore it, hang up, and block straight away.

I got a call from a guy claiming to be with the postcode lottery. He actually knew my name and told me I'd won some kind of discount card. I just told him thanks but no thanks and ended the call.

Just this morning at around 9:15, I got a call from 01746541034. The person asked for my wife by name, spoke with a strong accent that sounded maybe Indian, though the English was a bit off. I didn’t feel comfortable and ended the call quickly, but I worried it could have been about a hospital appointment or something important. I tried calling them back for a good ten minutes, but the line was busy all the time. Turns out, it’s just a dodgy lottery scam bugging people.

I got a call from someone saying I’d won a free meal card with the postcode lottery. They kept pushing even though I told them no a few times. Not sure what kind of scam it was, never really got to find out since I didn’t engage with them.

Got a call from someone acting like they were from my credit card company, but it felt really dodgy. Definitely a scam trying to phish for my info. Watch out, don’t fall for it!

Got a call from someone claiming they were with the postcode lottery, saying I’d won a card giving me half price on all my shopping and a holiday for four anywhere in Europe. Then they wanted my bank sort code so they could send £1 into my account to ‘activate’ the card. They also asked my age group, and since I’m in my 70s, I reckon they might be targeting older people. Totally a scam, for sure.
