Got a dodgy phone call from someone pretending to be a BT technician, insisting that my router had been compromised. Clear as day, it's a scam!

Just got a call from someone pretending to be from BT, using what looked like a local Skype number. They claimed somebody was stealing my identity and needed to get onto my computer to sort it out. They were using some kind of voice chat app, might’ve been Teamspeak or something similar. At one point, they said there was a fake £5000 transfer linked to Western Union and told me not to tell my actual bank because they might be in on it. This scam’s definitely still going around right now. Stay careful out there, folks.

I got a call from 01745837863, a guy with an Asian accent who said his name was Peter Mitchell and claimed to be an engineer from BT. He told us there was an issue with our router. My husband wasn't having any of it and said it sounded like a scam, then he told the bloke he’d report him and we got cut off.

Got a call from a bloke with a strong Indian accent pretending to be a BT engineer. He told me there was some weirdly high traffic coming from my place. Tried to ask him simple stuff about my local line but he couldn't answer at all. Kept insisting he worked for BT but then just ended the call out of nowhere.

Got a call from a man claiming he worked for BT saying someone was messing with my internet and he needed my info to sort it out. When I asked him for his phone number, he just ended the call. Rang up BT myself afterwards and they confirmed it was a scam.

I called BT to check after the call and it definitely wasn’t them. BT told me they wouldn’t phone like that and would only reach out by letter or email. So please be careful and don’t share any details with those callers.

Got a call from someone claiming to be from BT tech support, saying folks were trying to hack into my server (which is daft since I don't even have one at home). They kept pushing me for my hub info, even though I kept telling them it was a scam. They even threatened to disconnect my internet if I didn’t give in. Ended up just stringing them along till they gave up and hung up.

i got a call from someone saying they were from a group monitoring our internet for too much data usage, asking for details. last week i got pretty much the same call but ended it quickly and asked our internet company about it. they told me it was just a scam. the bloke said his name was jonothan olsen, which i'm sure was a fake.

Got a call earlier from some guy saying he was with BT, asked loads about my router. When I pushed back with questions, he started throwing tech jargon at me, but I could tell straight away it was nonsense - totally a scam. Later on, I got a silent call with no one speaking, then it just ended. Definitely ignoring and blocking these numbers now.

Our business landline, which is registered with TPS and only known by BT Business since we never share the number, keeps getting calls from them. We just end up ignoring all the calls.

Got a call from someone claiming to be with BT, saying my internet usage was too high or something like that. Seemed a bit off to me.

Just like all the other calls, some bloke with an Asian accent rang up saying there was weird activity on my router. Didn’t hang about before telling him where to go!

I got a call at work from someone claiming to be a BT technician, asking loads of stuff about my router. When I asked for proof, they kept saying they were from British Telecom. I asked for a callback number to check, but they just ended the call. I rang BT myself afterwards and they told me it was a scam and the number wasn’t legit. Seems like they’re going after businesses, so don’t give them any details!

For weeks we’ve been getting calls from them every single workday. We keep giving them the same answer, but they just don’t give up!

I got a call from 01745837863 and it seemed dodgy. When I asked for their EIN or IUN number, like what BT would have, they couldn’t provide it. Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

Yesterday I recieved a call from 02088555510 some guy with an asian accent was talking about my computer having issues. Then today, this 017458 number called me but it was silent at first, then a woman started talking, so I just ended the call straight away. Ive told the police about both numbers as I think it might be a scam.

Loads of calls come through to our workplace from this number, pretending to be BT and saying there's an issue with our router. Honestly, it’s a scam, so don't share any details with them.
