I thought ex-directory numbers were meant to be private, but somehow my number’s ended up in some directory. Anyone know who’s leaking details on these supposedly private numbers?

Like a lot of others have said, they said my router was sending messages to BT Openreach saying my PC was infected with loads of viruses. Definitely a scam or some phisher trying to trick me. Be careful with these calls!

I got called twice from this number today. The second time, they left a voicemail with just someone saying “hello” again and again. After seeing what others wrote here, I think I’ll just block it.

Got a call from someone saying they were from BT Openreach and that there was an issue with my wifi router. Bit strange cos I actually have Virgin Media! Definitely sounded like a scam to me.

some bloke from asia keeps ringing me from this number, i reckon it's probably rerouted from somewhere else, not even near cardiff. he was trying to scam me for personal info so i played along as long as possible before letting out a proper mouthful of colorful language! he tried to fire back some swears but ended up hanging up quick smart. this aint the first time he's called either, must be hard for him to learn his lesson!

I’m a Sky customer myself and my number is supposed to be ex-directory. Can anyone explain why BT are actually selling it then? Seems a bit odd to me!

Got a call from 01745 813822, some guy from India claiming he's with BT Openreach. As I actually work for Openreach, I knew straight away it was dodgy. He was going on about issues with my broadband, but that's not the case at all. Luckily, the call dropped before he could get too deep into it. They usually start by saying their name and checking how you are - bit suspicious if you ask me. Keep an eye out for these fake calls!

this guy called me, sounded like he had an asian accent, saying my broadband from bt was about to get cut off because of interference. i told him i wasn’t with bt, but he told me not to hang up. i then told him i’m with utility warehouse, not bt, and ended the call. the number called me two more times and went to voicemail, then rang again after about 10 minutes but i didn’t pick up. i let utility warehouse know about the calls and they said it seems like a scam, maybe trying to get my personal info.
